With more than a decade of experience in care, he began as a night staff worker and progressed to home manager before joining Esland as a Registered Manager in 2022. In his current role, Will supports home teams across the region, ensuring they have the resources to thrive. Passionate about creating nurturing environments, he is driven by making a real difference in children’s lives.

Hi, my name is Will Davis, and I’m the Regional Support Manager for Lincolnshire. I’ve worked for Esland in various roles for over three years.

    My journey so far

I began working in care over ten years ago, and my journey has been one of steady growth and continuous learning. I started as a night staff worker and gradually progressed to become a home manager with my previous company before joining Esland as a Registered Manager in 2022.

When I joined Esland, I set myself three clear goals: to register with Ofsted, to complete my first inspection, and to achieve my Level 5 qualification. I’m proud to say I’ve accomplished all three and so much more.

Along the way, I’ve deepened my knowledge of the regulations surrounding children’s homes, built strong and lasting partnerships with professionals, and embraced new challenges that have helped me grow both personally and professionally. Most importantly, each step has reinforced why I chose this career in the first place: to make a real and lasting difference in children’s lives.

    Helping young people flourish

In my current role as a Regional Support Manager, I oversee the various home teams in the region and ensure they receive all the necessary resources to perform their jobs effectively and enhance their skills. I also attend activities with our young people and continually develop our home environments so that they’re the best they can possibly be.

I feel our region works well together as a collective. We believe the matching process is key to the success of each placement. We know that if we get the initial steps right, a young person will have the opportunity to flourish and thrive while being surrounded by positive people who really care.

What keeps me at Esland is the organisation’s commitment to in-house development. They understand the hard work staff do within our homes and reward people who go above and beyond. I’ve been fortunate to work with countless people who demonstrate this every day, and it’s wonderful to see them advance up the career ladder here and take on their own homes.

    Learning how to lead

I think I’ve changed a lot since I first started at Esland. Mainly, I feel I’ve developed my leadership skills. I’ve led teams into new areas, helped them overcome challenges, and supported people in making Esland’s vision of a safe, nurturing, and successful home a reality.

I love the Esland values because they help me to take a step back and evaluate what really matters and what we’re trying to achieve. I think the Bold value helps with my decision-making. The Fun value helps to create a positive culture for young people and staff, and the Kind value helps me recognise when my team needs additional support.
