Why is outdoor learning so effective in trauma therapy? Image of young person on bicycle

Outdoor activities and nature-based interventions have been recognised for their therapeutic benefits in trauma recovery. They provide sensory stimulation, promote relaxation, enhance self-regulation, and help build a connection with the natural world.

Our adventure programme has been designed to harmonise with a young person’s abilities, aspirations and feelings and allow them to enjoy new and fun experiences they might never have encountered before.

Our assessment homes at Moorland Cottage and Peak View in Buxton, and The Willows in Lutterworth, are licensed by the AALA (Adventure Activities Licensing Authority) for the following activities:

    • Hill walking
    • Lowland walking
    • Kayaking
    • Canoeing
    • Stand up paddle boarding
    • Adventurous jumping
    • Caving
    • Climbing
    • Mountain Biking
