Esland Shropshire School celebrates its first year

Esland Shropshire School has reached its one-year milestone since opening in January. In its first 12 months, the school has grown steadily, creating a safe, consistent, and engaging environment where children are supported to develop socially, emotionally, and academically.
Jo Blakeman, Headteacher reflects on the school’s journey so far:
“It has been an exceptionally busy and rewarding first year at Esland Shropshire School. Since opening on 6 January, 2025 with just three students, we have grown significantly and now have 20 pupils on roll, with further growth already underway.
Over the past year, our students have taken part in a wide range of enriching experiences, including horse riding, pantomime visits, trampolining, and performing in their own Christmas production. These moments have played an important role in building confidence, independence, and a sense of achievement.
Every pupil has had the opportunity to form strong, positive relationships with staff and to develop meaningful friendships with one another. It has been a privilege to witness the social progress our children have made and to see them grow into confident, valued members of our school community.
Our students are settled, happy, and thriving. Each child has made good progress in their own way, whether academically, emotionally, or both, and we are immensely proud of them.
I would also like to thank our dedicated staff team. Their commitment, care, and professionalism are at the heart of everything we have achieved during our first year.”
As Esland Shropshire School enters its second year, the focus remains on maintaining strong relationships, high-quality support, and meaningful opportunities for every child.
We look forward to building on the foundations of the past year and continuing to support pupils to achieve their full potential.
