  • Esland in Bloom 2025: A Growing Success

Every year, Esland in Bloom invites young people and teams across Esland to roll up their sleeves and get hands-on in the garden developing outdoor spaces that celebrate nature, sustainability, and community. The competition is designed not only to brighten our environments but also to encourage teamwork, creativity, and new learning opportunities.

This year, we introduced a new format with two editions: one for our schools and one for our homes. From homegrown vegetables and wildlife habitats to colourful flowerbeds and towering sunflowers, the variety of entries has been inspiring. Judges visited each home and school in person and praised the effort, collaboration, and care shown by every team.

In the Schools Edition, students and staff worked hard to design eco-friendly outdoor spaces that combined creativity with sustainability. Esland Grantham School were named overall winner for their fantastic entry, while Esland Shropshire School were highly commended for their commitment to environmental awareness.

The Homes Edition reflected the same energy and creativity with our young people and teams planting vegetables, encouraging wildlife, and creating welcoming garden spaces. Highlights included:

    • Robin House, recognised in two categories – Tallest Sunflower and Wildlife
    • The Sycamores, winners of the Grow Your Own award
    • Emu House, celebrated for Young Person Involvement

The overall Homes winner was Peak View, whose entry stood out for its creativity and educational value. One young person even led an independent project inspired by the wildlife they found in their garden.

    A Celebration of Growth

Esland in Bloom continues to give young people the chance to connect with nature, gain new experiences, and take pride in their surroundings while highlighting the therapeutic value of time spent outdoors. Gardening and nature-based projects can help reduce stress, improve wellbeing, and provide safe, positive ways for our young people to express themselves and build confidence.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in Esland in Bloom 2025 for helping to make our schools and homes vibrant, welcoming places to live, learn, and grow.
